On estimate, there have been three million shipwrecks that have hit the ocean floor today. Only about one percent of these wrecks have been explored. There have been so many shipwrecks that when divers were searching for the Malaysia Flight 370, they accidentally discovered two shipwrecks. There is an estimated $60 million in sunken treasure around the world; but why can't we explore these sunken ships that hold so many treasures? Diving can cost millions of dollars and diver don't know if they will uncover something big, or strike out. It really is just a guessing game and most people do not like to gamble with that much. On the other hand, most shipwrecks are locating near the shore. This makes it easier to explore them seeing as they are so close to land. The most famous shipwreck known throughout the world is the Titanic, but there are many others that have occurred before and after. This includes the SS Arctic, the SS Sultana, and the US Indianapolis (CA-35).
